As a lifelong Nashville native, I care deeply about Goodlettsville and I don’t want our community to lose what has always made it special. That is why I am running! I want to protect our history, our cultures, and our values, while still allowing for the residential and business growth that is a reality of life in Middle Tennessee. We cannot let our neighborhoods become overcrowded and choke our infrastructure, but we also must not block the business expansion that keeps us moving forward. Finding and maintaining the right balance between growth and preservation is exactly why I want to serve. Together, we can shape our future while keeping our community's heart intact.
As I look around our community, I see a place we all love, but I also see a growing challenge. We cannot allow our neighborhoods to become unaffordable for the young people who grew up here and the young families looking to start their lives. My focus is on finding a healthy balance for our residential and commercial expansion. I believe we must support new housing development, but we have to do it responsibly. That means encouraging smart growth that welcomes new opportunities without driving out the local residents who have always called this place home. I am committed to ensuring our neighborhoods remain vibrant, accessible, and affordable for everyone.
Traffic is an issue that we can see growing all around us, affecting our daily commutes and our quality of life. I believe we must be proactive, not reactive, when it comes to our local infrastructure. That is why I am focused on planning ahead for the new Rivergate Mall area right now, before the gridlock sets in. We have all seen the challenges and frustrations that other expanding neighborhoods and retail developments have faced when growth outpaces planning. I want to make sure we learn from those examples and avoid those same mistakes here in our community. By staying ahead of the curve and planning smart today, we can keep our neighborhoods moving safely and smoothly for years to come.
I love our community, and my roots here run deep. As a Gen Xer, I spent my youth running the streets of Inglewood and East Nashville. I still love those areas, but the reality is that the homes we all knew and cherished there are long gone. I don't want to see that same thing happen to Goodlettsville. Our neighborhoods have a unique character, with beautiful trees that are older than all of us and our homes. I have argued to protect these neighborhoods in the past, and I want to continue that vital work. By maintaining the code enforcements that have protected our neighborhoods, we can preserve what makes Goodlettsville so special. I am committed to standing up for our homes and our heritage.
